Genesee Valley

Sometimes the world is a terrible place,
and I think I'm gonna' scream!
Then I remember Gramma sittin’ in her favorite chair,
her sun, silver hair.
She’d look to her grandson’s face for awhile;
she’d touch his head, and then she’d smile,
and say, in her way
‘I love you so!’
Then turn to the window and the world outside,
how she loved to gaze at the world outside,
and I’d think that she’d dream
of the land that she left
so long ago…
to come to America at her husband’s hand,
and help in shaping this American land.
So Nana,
this American song is for you!
Old world sittin’ on the left of me,
and the new world’s on the right.
A city boy is what you think you see,
but I’m a country boy at heart.
Genesee Valley is callin’ me home.
Sometimes the world is a wonderful place,
and I want each day to last!
Then I remember Johnny B, Richie and me
by the railroad tracks…
that ran down the hill backa’ Gramma’s yard;
my whole world ran backa’ Gramma’s yard!
It was easy to be
a young boy
in the Genesee.
Where summers were long, and best of all
was the Annual Fireman’s Carnival,
and runnin’, and dreamin’,
and playin’ and schemin’
in the New York summer nights!
Old world sittin’ on the left of me,
and the new world’s on the right.
A city boy is what you think you see,
but I’m a country boy at heart.
Genesee Valley is callin’ me home.
Sometimes the world is a difficult place
and I think I’ve run outa’ luck…
then I see Uncle Tony
and he’s comin’ for me
in that old Ford pickup truck.
We’d ride to the dump and he’d fish around
for some old toy laying on the ground,
and he’d shine it up clean,
and he’d give it to me,
and I’d feel so proud!
Old world sittin’ on the left of me,
and the new world’s on the right.
A city boy is what you think you see,
but I’m a country boy,
just a country boy at heart.
In the little blue room at the top of the hall;
a young boy sang his young-boy songs.

Blue Cruise

The wheel is in my hands, the road winds ‘cross the plains.
All sense of time is lost, the speed is in my veins.
Blue cruise, I move…
to run and to reach for the light at the break of day.
Moving past the sky, the stars all look like gold.
Draped in the dark, the blue of night is in my soul.
Accelerating, streaking faster through my life.
With those familiar scenes no longer in my sight.
Blue cruise, I move…
to run and to reach for the light at the break of day.
Points of direction are of no concern to me.
No hidden highways matching my uncertainties.
The signs beyond my reach are moving ever near.
On all horizons now the mist begins to clear.
Blue cruise, I move…
to run and to reach for the light at the break of day.
I can be one.
I can be one with all that I can see.
All of my essence fused into eternity.
Beginning is the end, the truth unlocks the keys.
The moonlight dripping from my fingers as I reach,
the map of roads to all the secrets that I seek.
The lay of shadows has an iridescent gleam.
I am the motion of the inner mounting dream.
Blue cruise, I move…
to run and to reach for the light at the break of day.
I can be one.
I can be one with all that I can see.
All of my essence fused into eternity.
Beginning is the end, the truth unlocks the keys.
